Hi Dizzy Di

We are parting with our VW Golf, BG registered if that is any good to you? Let me know if you are interested. We have all the past ownership, know the mechanic who serviced it, it has been garaged, etc...

It is worth having a look at www.mobile.bg - it's the equivalent of Autotrader in the UK. As long as you know what you're looking for and can handle Cyrillic it works well.
Otherwise, if you want something new and cheap, check out a brand new Lada; the 4wd Nival comes at 13,000 leva and the Riva is yours for 9,500 leva. The spare parts are cheap as chips and every mechanic in the country knows how to mend them.

Are new cars actually any cheaper to buy in BG? The Nissan patrol on the mobile.bg site works out about £16,000 for a second hand one so doesn't seem any cheaper, if not perhaps more expensive...but don't know much about cars.

Maybe I'll go for the brand new lada!

having owned a lada [two in fact] i dont think you can go wrong, they were built for that sort of terrain and weather, i never had any troube with starting mine and it was still running well when i got rid of it [i think my ex-husband had an image problem with it].
we have every intention of buying one when we eventually get there.
