DIA NACIONAL DEL BOYERO ox cart festival next weekend
March 11 & 12 in San Antonio de Escazu

Saturday, 11th, March
starting at twelve noon with he following
12:00m.d Pumps announces than the activity start.
2:00p.m Activity with excellent masquerades
3:00p.m Music festivity in "Tite Hidalgo" s sugar mill
6:00p.m mass on the churche dedicated to this people who are dead
7:00p.m (after the mass) Farmer´ Festivity in front of to the
churche, this has activities like: Marimbas, Music and Flok dances.
10:00 Fireword´s play

Sunday 12th, March
5:00 am "Diana" for the San Antonio´s streets.
6:00 am Pumps.
9:30 Start the parade in Escazú this activity has in the first part
the traditional "cimarrona", starting in front of to the
Municipality (it include inauguration of the parade for the
Municipality, mayor, culture´house co-workers Escazú), also the folk
dances in front of to the Municipality and mascarades.
12:00m.Arrive to the "Boyeros" to San Antonio´s public square
(churche´s in front of) where is the priest and who give the
benediction to the person (boyeros) and the yoke of oxen.
1:00p.m start to rewarding the "Boyeros" and for this the premiums
are to typical cart and four yokes and this premims is a donation
from the Municipality also typical chairs and diverses premiums,
this are a donation from the co-workers and commerce.
3:00 the rewarding finish and again you can look the mascarades for
the principals street of San Antonio (this year we have a mini
cattle auction and this is organized for the churche, in help than
the money is destinated to the rebuild to the churche´turrets
because this are in complete deterioration
6:00p.m mass
8:00 the pumps teld than the activity finish.

Escazú is localited to the west to San José around 20 min in car,
and San Antonio is 4 kilometer to the south to Escazú.

This is a activity without (profit aims, sin fines de lucro),that it
has been carried out for 23 years and we make this activity one time
in the year, this born for commemorate a "tobe" peasant, simple and
give to him, becaure always on the oxen parades, this activities are
for celebrate any Saintly the "Boyero" always give any like harvest
or pets, etc, for to thank for of the help gave, for that this
parade born for celebrate all the "Boyeros".

For this activity we hare different gests for example: boyeros from,
Cartago, Santa Ana, Heredia, San Carlos and more, for develop this
nice tradition "Boyeo" because this is a important part of our
culture, and is very nice look all the carts with differents colors
and desings, this born like a canton´parade but with the years was
develop in a bigger activity and it has around 150 participants, and
for that was order like the second sunday of march, the oxcars Day
and this activity is celebrated en San Antonio of Escazú, Costa
