Portuguese racketeers continue to pump up prices every three months. No backlash. Mugs.

What percentage of Portugal's electricity is generated by fossil fuels? This might explain why prices have not dropped.

Well for 2014, Renewables( Wind/Solar/hydro) made up 63% of the consumption.

That together with a 23% IVA rate did not help the economy.
The 23% rate has now rolled over and is no longer a factor in Portugals inflation figures.

The fact is that these energy companies working hand in hand with the government can more or less charge what they want.

The energy companies are paying huge extra "one off" taxes for the last few years, that strip much of their [booked] profits.
So they charge us more; the regulators can hardly fault them for it.

portugalresident.com/g...t%E2%80%9D

According to the article, EDP had to pay 69 million "extraordinary tax"
GALP and REN are also being squeezed.

I don't think many of us regular people will be crying too loudly for the big money corporations of Portugal, but remember that we all end up paying the bill.
