Visiting for extended stay

Post Posted: Fri Nov 20, 2015 10:59 am

We just bought a small sailboat in Bocas and will be spending 5 months on it. We arrive in Panama City on Dec 11 and will spend the weekend there. Would love to meet up with locals or ex-pats to discuss what to see and do in the area. Thanks...clyde

Hi Clyde,

Ive been to Bocas a couple of times , one of my favorite places.

The 1st time, I went to see Shepard Johnson, he owns a Island , ( freehold / leasehold not sure )
which he is developing and was interested in a Marina.

I was interested in a possible JV as I am a civil eng, with experience in swim pools , dams etc in Africa, I am also a keen sailor.

He had some interesting contacts and employees / partners etc , well worth a chat to, we went snorkeling (best place ive ever been to )

Also the best restaurant I found there was the www.ultimorefugio.com/ owner was a Native Red Indian very nice chap,

If u go there please say Hi from Alan ( the English guy )

Good luck

Please let me know how u get on

Thanks Alan..I'll look him up. Always nice to have a contact. I understand there are several new marinas in various stages of planning/dreaming. I'll say HI for you...clyde

Thanks Clyde,

I must say , I'm green with envy !

I saw a 40' fixer upper for sale a little while ago in Panama , I think it was in or near Bocas, it looked like it needed quite a lot of work though, did u buy that one ?

How long are u going to stay for ?

Regards

Alan
