Inviting Feedback, NOT Sales!
Subforums: Property for Sale/Rent, 2nd Hand Items for Sale/Wanted
* Please note: I have Admin permission for this post, as I am NOT soliciting for business (I don't currently have a business, which is the reason for this post.) I am simply attempting to gauge appetite for my idea before I devote further resources in any given direction. I am nowhere near being able to provide any service in the way I would wish to, so I am not requesting Private Messages and/or contact details. Please read on and let me have your feedback via the forum.
I'm in the planning stages of establishing a pc training service in the Algarve, and would like to get an idea of what appetite may exist.
The range of services I have in mind is:
[*]General pc familiarity - Know your way around your Windows pc/tablet/phone ;security awareness, spotting signs of scams, and security check-up; Good pc habits (e.g. using the built-in tools to help keep your machine running efficiently)
[*]A quick initial 'Fact Find' before arranging your training - this will help ensure that I understand your needs and aspirations, thus ensuring that you get always get best value.
[*] Software user training - From complete novice level ("I've always wondered how to....") to those who wish to improve their existing skills. Training subjects can include (but are not limited to) Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote, Powerpoint, Edge, Skype, Sway and Access.
The purpose is to make the training directly relevant to you, whether it's sharing content without having to worry about email attachment/Inbox limits, how to make cheaper/free calls abroad, or targeting areas that can help you to secure a new job (or make you more valuable in your current one). I'll also attempt to assist with any other software that you may use, (even it's not a Microsoft product).
[*]Familiarity with Windows 10 operating system (pc and mobile)
[*]Training will take place in your own home/premises (private or corporate customers), so you are using the equipment and programs that you're already familiar with.
[*]A manual provided in printed format that covers the training provided
[*]For four weeks following the end of the training (four weeks after the end of the final training session if there has been a program of sessions), I will provide free follow-up support by email on subjects covered by the training.
I aim to become accredited as a Microsoft Office Specialist, then later as a Microsoft Certified Trainer.
I'm not a hardware/programming/networking expert by any means, so I would be looking to form a strategic partnership with a reliable IT firm that covers those aspects. I have no interest in being a 'Jack of all trades'.
I'd be grateful for your feedback in the Forum. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, the purpose is to gauge interest to enable me to plan my future efforts in setting this up.
Many thanks in advance for your support,

I am sure may people would like this service but things are pretty tight money wise for a lot of folk and I don't think this would be a priority. Companies might have the cash but limited market if only aiming at brits. There are quite a few computer/tech people around on the algarve who seem to keep trading but not sure if they offer lessons. newtec in lagoa offer classes but only on mac and IOS

Thanks for the input.
I completely agree that for some individuals and companies, this would be a luxury. That said, I would also be aiming for business clients, including possible collaborations with temp agencies to improve their skill pool for placements, and eventually to perhaps become a training provider to the (un)employment service as a preferred outsourced trainer. Years ago, I was unemployed for a few months and enrolled myself onto a course of Portuguese for Foreigners which was run by an outside firm.
No, I'm not only addressing the ex-pat market - I speak/read/write fairly fluently in Portuguese and have worked in Portuguese-speaking environments. Of course, with local contacts and knowledge, there are different ways of getting feedback.
I'm aware of Newtec, and you're right - just Mac/IOS. I've done a lot of searching online for Microsoft Office Specialists and Microsoft Certified Trainers, but of the few IT companies that have any MS certification, it is all in the technical aspects such as infrastructures, servers, networks etc - nothing relating to the actual front-end user experience of Windows-based applications/programs.
Appreciate you coming back to me, Pete.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
