Dubai Locationsss -- HELP

Post Posted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 7:59 pm

I will be moving to Dubai very soon to work in Internet city.

- It would be great if you can list names of cities or areas within a 30 minutes radius from the internet city.

- another thing, would you please tell me how much time it would take by car to go:

1- from Deira to Internet city
2- from Qusais to internet city
3- from baraha to internet city
4- from Bur dubai to internet city

(consider traffic hours = going to work / leaving work).

pm or reply pleaseeeeee

If you want to get to Intenet City within 30 minutes, the best places are The Springs, The Greens, The Lakes, Al Barsha, Umm Sequim and Jumeira or Sheikh Zayed Road just that little further but well within a 30 minute drive.

Anywhere else and you're asking for trouble with the traffic here!!! Believe me, I'm staying in Deira/Al Quasais at the moment and have to leave at 7.30 to get to work for 9am. Hopefully I'll find a place in the Springs/Greens/Lakes soon!! (if anyone knows of any rooms going asap, let me know).

Good Luck!

Al Barsha - 10 to 20 min
Jumeirah - 15 to 25 min
Springs - 15 to 30 min
Bur Dubai - 20 to 50 min
Karama - 20 to 30 min
Al Qouz - 15 to 30 min
Greens - 15 to 30 min
Jebel Ali - 15 to 25 min
Um Sequim - 15 to 25 min

It really all depends on trafic. A trip that would normally take 15 mins could take as much as 2.5 hrs when there's an accident (been there!!).
What you'll want to do, is see where you can afford and get a place to live, then worry about how long it'll take.

Good luck!

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I've got a similar question to cello's, except I'm going in the opposite direction. Could someone tell me which way the traffic flows on SZR in the morning and evenings, or am I just kidding myself and it's gridlock in both directions during peak hours.

I'm thinking about renting somewhere in the Emirates Hills and will be working in the DIFC next to the Emirates Towers. Does anyone have experience with this trip in the mornings and evenings.

Many thanks.

Emirates Towers area is gridlocked most of the day (and night!). It gets worse when there is a major convention going on.
