MEO subtitles

Post Posted: Fri Feb 10, 2017 8:52 pm

I have recently signed up for a year with MEO on a package which gives us their satellite TV.I have only done so in the, quite probably vain, hope thatas they have promised they will in up the internet speed we suffer from, from almost dead stop to something at least slightly better!

I was surprised at the number of films and programmes in English with sub-titles, at least during the day, and wondered if anyone knew if it was possible to hide the Portuguese subtitles? Most of the stuff is not very interesting but it would make what is more appealing without these subtitles. One can do that I the UK- I think?

Many thanks.

On the bottom row of buttons of the remote, second button from right, it's marked with horizontal lines.
When you hit that, you get a submenu on screen; scroll down to subtitles.
When you hit "ok" it will tell you the subtitles are off.

Except usually there are still subtitles, as the older programs [which is what they play] have hard-coded subtitles in the video track.

Supposedly you can change the spoken language to English on many of the Spanish channels; again, there's an option for it. And again, it doesn't seem to actually do anything!

Liveaboard,

Many thanks. We seem to have different remote but I found reference to subtitles under the Menu button and have set them to off- but as you say that seems to have little if any effect. Hopefully time will show that it has!
