As an expat your real needs is different than the locals, you need a special compensation/benefits. The best way to make it worth is whether your lifestyle can match the same way as your own lifestyle in your home country.

Of course your spending patterns are different so use the World Cost of Living spreadsheet(crowdsourced data) to calculate your own spending items. Items include in this calculation are accommodation, transportation, groceries, recreation, apparel and utilities.

The cost of living are almost the same everywhere. When you convert the currency to USD, you find out that there isn’t really much difference. But then if you live in an expensive area, you might have higher utility bills compared to other neighborhoods. If you are living in Dubai, you need a minimum of 10-15000 AED of monthly income to live comfortably- that is if you are living alone. If you have a family, you should earn way over 20,000 AED. You should consider buying villas in Dubai, they are affordable if you want to skip rent.
