British State Pension
Posted: Wed Jan 31, 2018 12:22 am
This only applies to those in receipt of, or due to receive a British State Pension, you may be aware that the UK is the only country to discriminate against it's pensioners. Depending which Country you move to, decides whether your State pension is index linked, or is frozen at the same level from the date of receipt, or the date you move, if you are already in receipt of a pension, due to a perverse regulation introduced 70 years ago.
You can see which countries this applies to Here, there has been a campaign for years to have this anomoly rectified, but the Government so far has refused to entertain the idea, despite the fact, that people paid their National Insurance contributions throughout their working lives, as did those who are not affected, the pension is a right, not a Benefit, and as such it needs to be put right.
I ask that all British ExPats sign this petition, requesting the Government right this wrong.
No, I am not in receipt of a State pension yet, but living in Colombia, I will be in receipt of a frozen pension, when my time comes, so I do have a stake in this being put right, but not only for me, for the many frozen Pension Receivers around the world of which there are about 550,000. We are told it would be too expensive to implement, and yet if we were all to return to the UK, they would have to find a fortune, not only to index those pensions, but in housing benefits, healthcare etc.
Please support this petition.
