Scam emails

Post Posted: Fri Sep 27, 2019 5:05 pm

Please be very careful people. Today we have received two scam emails purporting to be from MEO and Finanças and both demanding money.

The one from MEO looked very authentic but on closer look was clearly a scam with in incorrect email address for MEO and incorrect entidade to make the payment.

The one from Finanças said that it was a final demand and suggested that we click on a link to open it. Obviously it was consigned straight to the bin.

€128.72 by any chance Ingles? It seems there are many in circulation and one person at least has reported the matter to Deco Proteste. I've taken mine into MEO.

What concerns me is that elderly or less informed people will scare easily and just pay up.

I did not look, when I get a "mail" that's "not kosher" I reply back the mail to sender ASP & it's always dead address !

Be careful with that tactic Ingles. For one, you are unnecessarily exposing your email address to anyone that has the know how to harvest it. Secondly, you are confirming that the email address that the scammer used is alive and well. OK, on this occasion it was a dead email address, but that will not always be the case. I just hit 'delete' and send them on their way.
