Re: Moving to Bangkok

Hi Peter,

Just one quick clarification and a question.

The clarification is that the planned MRT extension to the Thonburi side of the river is already well underway and will likely be open by this time next year if not sooner. It is fully funded.

The question: Why are you here if you clearly dislike living in a Thai city so much? Don't mean to be harsh but I am saddened that you dislike it here so much.

In Thai culture, "there's many a slip twixt cup and lip".
When Thais announce something is "planned" and "will likely be open", I always think, "better wait and see".

Many Oriental cultures use this same thinking method -- named: "primacy of consciousness" -- where words substitute for facts, and wishes substitute for actions.
I would never base any decisions -- especially about where to live -- on such government pronouncements.

Why are you here if you clearly dislike living in a Thai city so much? Don't mean to be harsh but I am saddened that you dislike it here so much.

Jaiyen, you've provided much useful advice here, and I'm certainly not interested in a word brawl with you, or anybody else here.
But, now you have me curious.
You wrote "clearly dislike", and -- from your previous post -- "hates it so much in Bangkok".
I can not find any reference to either "dislike" or "hate" or any of their synonyms in my posts on this thread.
If you will point out to me exactly where, I'll look again, more carefully.
The topic of this thread is "Moving to Bangkok", so let's discuss within that context.
If you prefer to discuss in a private message, I'll leave that up to you.
Thanks.
.

Hi Peter,

Apologies if I misunderstood, but one might be forgiven for construing that your comments indicated that you did not like Bangkok. In any case, to each his own, no need to continue this discussion.

Best wishes.
