No sorry I've not heard of it - before Frigiliana, I lived in Torrox Campo in an area called Pago Meli I think(I'm still not sure what it was fully called to this day). We had a 5km track from civilisation to our house. But having to get our children to school daily was too much. There are a few things I miss about living in the campo though and I'm sure you'll have a great experience and probably many stories to tell.

What is a campo? Not sure how long this country track is but hopefully not the entire 6 km. I know the address is listed by the name of the villa then Barranc del Puerto, Torrox. I do know they have no phone line. But will look into wifi when I get there as I can not do without my computer.

Cajun-Spice - contact Iberbanda for good wireless phone + internet connection. We too live in the campo with no chance of a landline - 15km inland from Torre del Mar - and are delighted with our internet + phone (Euro 45 per month).

Maintenance and advice on looking after your swimming pool.

The most important considerations should be the water balance, most pool maintainers check the Chlorine and pH and bung in the chemicals.

Chemicals need to be fully understood before using them. A bit like using drugs prescribed for a few friends and mixing them alltogether - Side effects..!!

Multi-chemical tablets are a godsend?? if used correctly Yes, but in regular use they can gradually stiffle your pool.

Chlorine lasts a very short time in the pool and then evaporates, to keep it in a little longer we use 'stabiliser' just a small amount is enough around 30 ~ 40 ppm no more.
I have tested pools with over 500ppm that is over 5 times the maximum amount allowable in the USA for a public pool.
With 100ppm it will slow the actions of Chlorine down so much that a well used pool will have germs and bugs in it that we can all do without which is when the kids get sore throats and stomach upsets.

Another key area is pH - it is very important that we maintain our pH between 7.2~7.8 the higher it gets and again our chlorine is less effective, the effect is that at 8.5 you are only using around 10% of any chlorine you put in the pool and at 7.2 you will be using over 70%

If you need any guidance please write me an email or check out this information site:

Dave

Can anyone suggest anyone who does maintenance on swimming pools in the Nerja area? Would like someone to clean and put chemicals in once a week or every two weeks.

Any idea of cost?

cheers

Try www.casa-angels.com average swimming pool contract about €60 a month inclusive.
