Urgent Help!!!

Post Posted: Tue Aug 15, 2006 4:53 pm

Hi,

I am flying out to Vancouver next Friday, permanatly ( at last ), but my temp accomodation has fallen through, so at the moment it appears I'll have to share the cats kennel . Can anyone recommend anywhere? I've been frantically looking on the internet & firing of emails left right & center, but if anyone knows of anywhere, that's reasonably priced & allows pets I would appreciate it. I start work the 5th of September in Downtown so need something that's either close or with good transport links. Please don't suggest Suite Deals as they're the ones who have let me down .

Thanks
Tamsin

Hi Tamsin,

Uh oh, and during 'prime time' too...

You will probably find that many of the advertised units will already be rented by the time the ad hits the newspaper/internet.

Contact Deborah at NuPAD ( www.nupad.ca ) - as you still have access to their support because you opened a file with them. At least then you can have them searching their proprietary Temporary Accommodations supplier list in Vancouver.

As stated, it is "Prime Time" for relocations in Canada, so availability of furnished and unfurnished temporary accommodations will be at a premium. I suggest you contact Deborah, and be ready to act should they find something suitable for you.

You will find that most unfurnished units will accept pets, and most furnished units will accept small pets with a nominal 'clean up' fee added.

Best of luck Tamsin, and keep us posted on your progress. You just may not have to sleep with the kitty after all!

Warm Regards,

Paul-F

Hi Paul,

Was saved at the lst minute! One of the guys on the Brits2Vancouver Forum has offered me a room to rent for a couple of months, so at least I have somewhere to lay my head this Friday night!!

Although Deborah has been very helpful I do have to say that the lady she put me in touch with in Vancouver hasn't. She very rarely answers my emails, we had arranged to go out for the day looking at areas in Vancouver when I was out for my reccy week, but when I spoke to her she was "busy". To be honest I have pretty much managed to organise myself. The advise I got from NuPad itself was very helpful, but I do feel a bit let down with the affiliate. But it's all worked out (sort of), so now all I need to do is pack & get ready for Friday!

Hi Tamsin,

Glad to hear that you and the kitty found something on such short notice, and during prime time. Congrats!

Sorry to hear of any hassles with connecting to your Vancouver affiliate.

At times, there can be some misalignment between a client and affiliate, and the advantage of using NuPAD is our capacity to reassess, realign and to support everything moving forward on behalf of the client (You).

In this case, the affiliate assigned to you specializes in finding unfurnished homes for long-term lease or purchase - and she has successfully helped dozens of UK clients to settle into Vancouver throughout the year.

Apologies, as we may have misread your immediate needs.

It now sounds like your current circumstances would be better suited to a furnished room/suite, short-term stay or roommating service provider.

Instead of indicating that she was 'busy', it is unfortunate that the affiliate did not just redirect you to Deborah for a solution.

I have informed Deborah, and we will certainly follow up with your Vancouver affiliate for the rest of the story...

In the mean time, if we can support you in finding a more 'permanent' residence than your current arrangements in Vancouver, just let us know.

You must be getting very excited. Friday is not that far away.

How is your friends and family taking it? You ready to start the new life?

All the Best!

Paul-F

Hi Paul,

Maybe it was a miscommunication, when my emails were answered they were helpful, it's just that a lot went unanswered! I am still looking for unfurnished apt to rent, as soon as I can! I start work the 5th of September so it would be nice to be in somewhere for that weekend, but am also realistic enough to know that may not happen. But I can stay in my temp accom for 3 months, so I'm sure I'll find something before then!!

Am very excited & so are my friends & family, who have all been very supportive. I know some people have had problems, but I must say I feel very lucky (either that or they're just trying to get rid of me Wink ). So some final packing & tying up loose ends today, then I pack the kitty up & away we go!! & I have to say nothing has ever felt so right.
