removal costs - help!!

Post Posted: Tue May 17, 2005 2:45 am

Hi, very useful site you have here. I am enquiring on my parents behalf, they are moving to Vale Da Telha this summer. Can anyone help recommend a reliable, fairly priced removal company they can employ. So far they have received 2 quotes for the job, the first costing £3200 and the second being £2750. What is an average price for this type of move, and would it be cheaper/easier to hire a van and do it yourself? Thanks for your time.

Hi Anthony, we have a 2 bedroom cottage in Southampton , and will be moving to the Aveiro area this summer.Pickfords have quoted us £2300 including packing,4 weeks storage in the UK, and VAT. Of course, it all depends on how much stuff you're moving whether a rate is 'good' or not. However , we used Pickfords when we moved to Southampton , and the service they provide is excellent , which is why we haven't bothered getting any other quotes. They may not be the cheapest , but we feel that for the peace of mind that they are reliable , we're happy to go with them. I appreciate that it's always useful to save money , but for such a big move , I think its better to 'bite the bullet' if possible.

Hope this helps! All the best , Pete

Hi Anthony

We also will be moving to Vale da Telha this summer.

AIM removals came very highly recommended to us by several people who hve moved from the UK to the Algarve. They are based in Portugal so are making regular trips back and forth.
