Thanks, Piglet, I'll be pleased to help out.
Most problems are just a matter of maintenance but , for any severe problems, I can direct members to a specialist site wherein the resident geniuses will be happy to diagnose any computer fault- for free. Let's see what turns up.

Hi Moon...many thanks for that
What about duplicate and triplicate and quadruple emails. They are coming in thick and fast at the moment I get emails I have received days ago!!
I am not familiar with the area you mention...never been further up the western coast than Sao Tentanio (think that is the spelling) Good Luck with your quest.
Kind Regrds
Piglet
That would seem to be a problem with your service provider as your PC is only downloading what is on the provider's servers, not duplicating your mail all of itself.
You may have checked a box somewhere which said 'Leave a copy of email on the server after downloading' If you can access your email on the provider's server ( such as I can do by going to my BT mail site) check to see if such an option exists there.
Do you use Outlook Express and are you using any spam filtering software such as 'Mailwasher' ?
Thanks for the 'good luck'. It's going to be a very exciting trip.

P.S.
If you are using OE or Outlook, go to your 'Accounts' tab, highlight an account and go to 'Properties' then to the 'advanced' tab. You will see a check box saying 'Leave a copy on server'. Make sure that is UNchecked and do the same for each account.

Hi,
Unchecking the Outlook Express box marked 'Leave a copy on server' will not cause you to lose any emails on your computer. It will mean that, once you have downloaded your mail, there is not another copy left on the server.
However, Piglet, clarity is the key to solving PC problems. I am assuming, for safety, that you are using Outlook Express and it is the checkbox in Outlook Express that you are referring to ?
I wouldn't want to be the cause of you losing your files.

Don't worry, you won't lose anything from your machine.
Let me know if it solves your duplicate mail problem.

OK, it did fix the problem on your machine though. That indicates that leaving duplicates on the server was the basic cause of the problem.
Now to find out why your other machine is affected by that.
Can you explain your set-up, number of machines, do they have different email addresses etc. ?

Try this;
Go into your 'Advanced' tab again and change the 'Time-out' settings to 'Long' or ten minutes, whichever option Outlook gives you.

If our hosting company...should they know, as its only a real problem in last ..month or so. Use to happen occassionally but now several times a day, evry day.
