Hi All,

What a fantastic evening had by all...great food, a complimentary round of drinks donated by Rod at Expat Focus, and a hilarious performance to boot. Play it again, Sam! Laughing

There will certainly be another Expat Focus Social Event in the near future. Stay tuned, and I hope that those who missed this time will be able to make the next one!

And apologies for a lack of better pictures, because we found out upon arrival that taking snaps was prohibited for most of the event, but I was able to sneak a couple...

Rick's Cafe Canadien was the setting for a laugh-every-second murder mystery based very loosely on the movie, Casablanca. Sam was actually far too pale for his role, and the story had much more to do with gaining papers to enter Canada (coincidentally very fitting for our group!) than it did Northern Africa. But what a group of characters.

It was chock full of jokes about Canada, by Canadians...and had me cracking up constantly as we were also trying to solve the mystery at the same time.

Stesol had studied Casablanca closely, and was very prepared for his sleuthing. But he could not have been as prepared for one of the stars of the show, Mercedes, taking such a shine to him. (Steve - or Carl as his incognito name tag has him Laughing - just so happens to be a BIG Mercedes fan - the car!)

So, he was all smiles when he guessed the outcome correctly, was incorporated into the show for some laughs, and even had a picture taken with the slightly speech-impeded 'Canadian Mercedes'. Good show!

Thank you to everyone who turned out and made a great event for all.

A special thanks to Rod for supporting the event. It can be critical for new expats to network with others in the same boat as them...

And the spring season is kicking into gear now, so we would love to hear some ideas about what we could do for the next event.

Come on, let's have some ideas!

Best Regards,

Paul-F
