Telephone numbers beginning with 1800 are free calls if you call from a private telephone line. The Australian White Pages is a useful directory if you need any services.
Telstra is one of Adelaide's main communication services provider. It provides communication services for home (fixed) and mobile telephone lines, as well as internet service connection. To find out more information, dial 13 2200; or visit their website at www.telstra.com.au. There are many mobile and fixed telephone plans available. You can choose to sign a contract and pay a monthly fee, or buy pre-paid cards.
The Adelaide General Post Office is located on 141 King William Street. It is open daily from Mondays through Fridays, from 830am-530pm. The GPO is closed on Saturdays, but the post office at City Cross is open on Saturdays (9am-1230pm).
There are many broadband providers – just to name a few that are more active in Adelaide : Big Pond, AdamInternet, Optus, and Exetel. Connectivity, speed and accessibility is very much determined on where you stay, and the available network coverage by that particular broadband provider. Apart from the national free-to-view television channels, C31 is Adelaide's community television channel. Radio Adelaide (101.5FM) is a community-based radio station that promotes multiculturalism, and runs in conjunction with the University of South Australia.
