Taiwan, an East Asian state neighbouring the People's Republic of China to the north-west, Japan to the north-east, and the Philippines to the south, is popular among expats for a number of reasons. From its delectable local cuisine to its efficiently organised public healthcare system (it is a global leader in certain fields of medicine), the country has plenty to offer. Taiwan often does well in expat polls about which countries are best to live in, and it also ranks as the happiest country in East and Southeast Asia on the United Nations’ global happiness report. more ...

Taiwan can be a confusing place for expats. In many ways, it’s a modern, advanced, very global country, in terms of both its economy and its culture. Nonetheless, there are certain things about it that are absolutely nothing like what most European and American expats are used to. The native culture and customs remain firmly entrenched in people’s lives, and as an expat, it can be difficult to acclimatize to your new environment. more ...

Taiwan is one of the most popular expat destinations in East Asia. Some of the main reasons for this are the climate, the hospitality and warmth of the local people, the ubiquity of local Chinese culture, and yet the simultaneous existence of a very modern and international infrastructure and economy. Taiwan is also quite good in terms of safety, entertainment and leisure options, and general convenience. more ...
