This Twitter account is the public face of Feels Like Home, a resource website for international students and expats thinking of moving to Austria. Full of inspirational quotes, fantastic articles that tap into the expat psyche and a global community of like-minded members, this is one to follow with interest.

With a very active Twitter feed, blogger Michelle shares her unique travel guides & expat insights as an American living the European life in Vienna, Austria. Michelle also founded and helps run a fantastic community for local and international Women of Vienna, a rapidly growing English-speaking network and resource of friendly local women living in Vienna and the surrounding areas. The WoV organizers also create various events throughout the month and has several sub-groups for particular interests.

This almost 900-strong Facebook group was created for English-speaking expats living in Linz and Upper Austria. Initiated as a supportive community, the group is administrated by two American women – originating from California and Ohio respectively – and even includes a garage sale sub-group for those second-hand necessities for living on the beautiful Danube riverbanks.

Represented with a crossing of the two country flags, the Austro-American Society of Upper Austria was set up in Linz 1946 and has since offered a great variety of activities in the fields of culture, education, science and politics to foster better understanding among Austrians, Americans and the friends of both countries. With both a physical address and their Facebook group, entry is free and events are often organised – perfect for expats new to Upper Austria.

Covering everything from serious news to more light-hearted happenings, this Austrian arm of the The Local, Europe’s largest English-language news daily network, is an excellent source of current events.

This closed Facebook group (for privacy) of nearly 200 expats and their friends share tips, guidance and a friendly social media shoulder for those settling into a new life in Austria. Joining the group is the best way to properly gain an insight into real life in amongst the beautiful cafe culture of Vienna and the music ringing from the hills of Salzburg.

Hello and Hallo

Chelsea is an American expat living (and loving) life in Austria. Hello and Hallo is her blog full of expat resources, travel tips, information on Austrian culture, and insights from adventures abroad. Her Facebook page is updated with posts and musings of her journey from California to Carinthian and provides a good resource for inspiration & commiserations on the unique joy of expat life.
