Toronto - Getting There

Facing the scenic Lake Ontario in eastern Canada, Toronto is strategically located within a high growth economic zone which contributes to 11% of the countrys GDP. The citys commercial importance has been facilitated by a fine network of flights to 180 destinations in 54 countries by 70 carriers across the globe

A smaller airport, the Toronto City Centre Airport is located on the Toronto Island and can be accessed from the Western Gap only by ferry boats which make trips to the mainland every 15 minutes. For more information, refer to

By Rail:

VIA Rail, Canadas railway service connects Toronto to the rest of the Canadian network of cities and towns. Train travel is a wonderful way of exploring Canadas enchanting countryside. Refer to for more details, or call 1 888 842 7245 for services. The railway station in Toronto, Union Station, is located on 65 Front Street West between Bay Street and York Street

Approximate travel time between Toronto and the following destinations by VIA Rail is:

Montreal: 5 hrs
Ottawa: 5 hrs
Niagara Falls: 2 hrs

By Road:

A fine mesh of highways and motorways connects Toronto to the rest of Canada, and the US. Highway 401 links the city to Montreal in the east, and London and Windsor in the west, and further ahead to Detroit. Highway 407 skirts the city in the north while the Queen Elizabeth Way is the road to the Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Hamilton.

The Canadian Automobile Association offers assistance to long-distance drivers in case of a breakdown, and can be contacted at: (416) 221 4300 or 1 800 268 3750. However, this service is available ONLY for their members. They require a yearly membership fee to qualify for this service contract.

Buffalo: 2 hrs (155 miles /250 km)
Detroit: 4 hrs (231 miles / 372 km)
Cleveland: 5 hrs. (295 miles 473 km)
Montreal: 5 hrs (280 miles/450 kms)
Niagara Falls: 2 hrs (213 miles / 343 km)
