The local schools in Oslo are managed by the Oslo Education Agency and are equipped with excellent infrastructure and curriculum. See www.visitoslo.com/en/visit-schools for further details. The schools arrange special classes for children who are new to the city and do not speak Norwegian.

The Oslo International School is open to children of foreign nationals aged 3 to 18 and subscribes to the International Baccalaureate program. The Education Agency runs 1,300 on-the-job trainings for students of the upper secondary school who wish to take up vocational courses, and runs primary and secondary level classes for adults where Norwegian, English and mathematics is taught along with the natural and social sciences. For higher education, there are a number of institutions to consider. The University of Oslo is one of the oldest in Norway, with a student strength of 30,000. Four of its ex-students are Nobel Prize winners.

The International Summer School draws around 500 student from 90 countries across the globe for its undergraduate and graduate courses between June and August. See www.uio.no/iss/
