Singapore - Property Locations
The most expensive areas of Singapore are in the Central Area - consider it the equivalent of Piccadilly Circus in London! As the main shopping district in Singapore, it boasts boutiques, nice hotels, restaurants, pubs, and large department stores. Some of the residential areas in in the Central Area are River Valley Road, Cairnhill, and Grange Road. You will mostly find high rise condominiums here, with the landed properties predominantly located in Cairnhill. Young couples and single professionals tend to populate the Central Area the most.
Bukit Timah is a good place to live if you want a quiet area that is also closer to nature. There are both landed properties and condominium living to choose from. For expats, Holland Village has a lot of restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping options as well as international cuisines and coffee houses.
Expats who are working in the Jurong Industrial Town or at local universities sometimes choose to live on the West Coast. This area tends to be less expensive than Holland Village. The properties also allow you to get more for your money. A biking trail runs from Clementi to Ghim Moh and the area is known for being pet-friendly.
There is a village environment and outdoor recreational facilities at Pasir Panjang. The Singapore Yacht Club is nearby, too. In addition, many people enjoy shopping at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre where retail shops, cafes, pubs, grocery stores, and even a fish market are all available. Nearby, you can find the Tanjong Perlayar Park, West Coast Park, and the Labrador Nature Reserve.
Woodlands has the biggest international school and the suburb has been renovated lately. Although it is far from the city, it is self-reliant and you can find many amenities and facilities. For instance, there are four shopping malls, banks, a cinema, and a sports stadium. The Woodland Town Garden and the Woodlands Centre Road see a lot of walkers, bicycles, and roller skating.
Close to the American School is Century Woods, a planned estate with 97 houses. Although the houses are not large by American standards, they do have small gardens and some even have swimming pools. In the larger houses, there might be as many as 15 air conditioning units.
The East Coast is close to the airport and has a lot of condominiums. Many people choose to live in this area since not only does it have a lot of shopping and activities, but it is also close to the sea and beaches.
