Conditioning

Thailand - Heating and Air-Conditioning

Generally, there is very little need for heating in most areas of Thailand. The temperatures during the day time rarely fall below 20°C although some regions of the country do have a season which is much colder. Freezing temperatures are usually only experienced in the mountainous regions.

As a result there are many homes which have no provision for heating. Some homes in the cooler areas have electric heaters and some have portable gas heaters, but their use is not widespread.

Air conditioning units are far more popular as these can also be set to higher temperatures for cooler evenings and days. The units come in a variety of sizes and styles. Portable units are popular, particularly for smaller homes as there is no cost for installation. They can be easily moved from room to room as needed.

Alternatively, there are static units that can be installed throughout the house. Some systems have one control panel with units in each room, although others are controlled in each individual room. The cost of having a system such as this installed can be quite expensive for a large property, although condos are designed with air conditioning included. Some rental properties also already have an air conditioning system but for those that do not the solution is a portable unit.

Air conditioning manufacturers in Thailand tend to deal directly with local builders, so if you need an installation then finding a reputable builder is the first step.
