Brussels - Getting There
For expatriates coming from within Europe or who have landed at another airport, Brussels does have a train system. The Eurostar train line goes all across Europe. These high speed trains can get you to any of the three rail stations located in Brussels quite rapidly, as they travel at over 200 miles per hour. By train, you can reach Paris from Brussels in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. It takes approximately two hours to reach Amsterdam, or an hour and fifty minutes to reach London. Eurostar US can be located at http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/eurostar/train.htm, and there is a link at the top of the page for travelers and expats located in other countries as well. The three train stations in Brussels are Bruxelles Midi-Brussel Zuid, located south of the city center, Bruxelles Central-Brussel Centraal, located in the city center, and Bruxelles Nord-Brussel Noord, located north of the city center. For people traveling from other countries, tickets typically cover all internal travel within Belgium as well, so that once you reach the country, all travel within it is free of charge. You can confirm this by checking your ticket before boarding.
Eurolines, located at http://www.eurolines.com/index.php?id=113&L=0, offers bus service to Brussels from most European countries. They can be located via their website, or by calling +32 (0)2 274 1350. Their website also contains useful information for travelers and expatriates looking for shopping, entertainment, and hotels. They offer leaflets, maps, photos, and tour information through their website as well.
Brussels airport has their own website as well, located at http://www.brusselsairport.be/en/, and it is packed with valuable information and features. In addition to bookings and departure/arrival updates, you can find information about everything from jobs to your rights as an air passenger.
South Brussels has its own airport as well, the Brussels South Charleroi Airport, located online at http://www.charleroi-airport.com/doc.php?nd=o29&tid=29&lg=2&docid=1&site=1. Charleroi has numerous budget airlines that fly into and out of it from all across Europe. Charleroi is about an hour from the Brussels city center, and you can reach Brussels city from the airport by using a train or coach for a reasonable fee.
