Crime & Safety

Toronto - Crime & Safety

Toronto's standing as a low crime city is largely due to the proactive measures taken by the Toronto Police Service and the Mayors Community Safety Plan. The police department is known for its prompt responses and efficient functioning, while the Safety Plan ensures security for its residents through a policy of prevention and strict enforcement. These actions have made Toronto the safest city in Canada.

One major concern for expatriates in Toronto is the growing number of shooting incidents between rival gangs in the city, with innocents losing their lives in the crossfire. Other than this, reports of burglary and petty thefts in the city are overall low.

The Crime Prevention Association of Toronto (CPAT) is a non-profit organization working with different communities towards a crime-free Toronto. It spreads awareness in the city through a series of community-based programs involving volunteers and the Toronto Police Service.
