Last updated: 9 September 2026. These terms apply to the free prize draw attached to the Expat Focus Health & Insurance Survey 2026.
1. Promoter
The promoter is Upstart Digital Media Ltd ("Expat Focus"), registered at 3rd Floor, The Coade, 98 Vauxhall Walk, London SE11 5EL, United Kingdom. Contact: [email protected].
2. The draw
2.1. One winner will receive a prepaid Visa or Mastercard digital e-gift card with a value of £400 (or, at the winner's choice, US$500, a fixed equivalent set at the launch of this promotion). Delivery is by email.
2.2. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY. Entry is free.
2.3. The draw opens on 16 September 2026 at 00:00 UK time and closes on 20 October 2026 at 23:59 UK time (the "Entry Period").
3. How to enter
3.1. Complete the Expat Focus Health & Insurance Survey 2026 during the Entry Period and provide an email address on the final page when invited to enter the draw; or
3.2. Enter without completing the survey by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Prize Draw Entry" and your name and country of residence during the Entry Period. Entries by this route have the same chance of winning as survey entries.
3.3. One entry per person. Automated, bulk or duplicate entries are void.
3.4. Entry into the draw is optional and is not a condition of completing the survey. Opting into marketing communications is NOT a condition of entry.
4. Eligibility
4.1. Open to natural persons aged 18 or over at the date of entry.
4.2. The draw is open to entrants worldwide, EXCEPT residents of Italy and Brazil, whose local laws restrict participation in promotions of this kind. (Residents of those countries may still complete the survey; they may not enter the draw.)
4.3. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
4.4. Employees and contractors of Upstart Digital Media Ltd, its partners involved in this promotion, and their immediate families may not enter.
4.5. If the selected winner is resident in Canada, the award of the prize is conditional on the winner first correctly answering, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question.
5. Winner selection and notification
5.1. The winner will be selected at random from all valid entries within 7 days of the close of the Entry Period, using a verifiably random computer process. A record of the entry list, the method and the draw result will be retained as evidence that the draw was conducted fairly.
5.2. Odds of winning depend on the number of valid entries received.
5.3. The winner will be notified by email within 7 days of the draw, with at least two contact attempts over 14 days, and must respond and confirm acceptance within 28 days of the first notification. If the winner does not respond in that window, or is ineligible, a reserve winner will be drawn on the same basis.
5.4. The prize will be delivered by email within 14 days of the winner confirming acceptance.
6. The prize
6.1. The prize is a prepaid Visa or Mastercard digital e-gift card, value £400 (or fixed US$500 equivalent at the winner's choice). The card provider will be chosen by the Promoter and must be redeemable in the winner's country of residence.
6.2. No cash alternative except at the Promoter's sole discretion or where required by law. The prize is non-transferable.
6.3. The Promoter is not responsible for any fees, expiry terms or usage restrictions imposed by the card issuer once the prize is delivered.
6.4. Taxes: any tax liability on the prize is the winner's responsibility.
6.5. This promotion is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Visa, Mastercard, SurveyMonkey, or any card issuer.
7. Publicity
7.1. In line with the CAP Code, the surname and county (or equivalent region) of the winner will be made available on request for 3 months after the close of the Entry Period; email [email protected] to request it. By entering, entrants consent to this. An entrant may object to this disclosure, or ask to limit it, by emailing the same address at or after entry; where the winner objects, Expat Focus will still provide the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to demonstrate a valid award took place.
7.2. The winner's first name and country of residence may additionally be announced in the survey report and on expatfocus.com, with their consent.
7.3. No further publicity participation is required as a condition of winning.
7.4. Winner details are never linked to survey responses; winning the draw reveals nothing about anyone's survey answers.
8. Data protection
8.1. Email addresses entered for the draw are stored separately from survey responses and are never linked to an entrant's answers.
8.2. Draw entry emails are used only to administer the draw and, where the entrant has separately opted in, to send the survey report. They are deleted within 90 days of the prize being claimed, except the winner's records, which are retained as long as required for legal and accounting purposes.
8.3. The data controller is Upstart Digital Media Ltd. Processing is under UK GDPR; the privacy policy at https://www.expatfocus.com/privacy applies.
9. General
9.1. By entering, entrants agree to these terms. The Promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into, save that this does not affect an entrant's statutory rights.
9.2. The Promoter may cancel, suspend or amend the promotion where required by circumstances outside its reasonable control; any amendment will not disadvantage entrants already entered.
9.3. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and entrants submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
