Romania – Top Expat Blogs

At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Romania and some of the bloggers who write about living there.

Expat In Romania
http://expatro.blogspot.co.uk/

Matt was actually born in Romania, but spent most of his childhood in Canada. As an adult he moved back to Romania as a Canadian expat, and now writes about his life there. The blog is a nice mixture of posts about being an expat in general, and in Romania in particular, as well as book reviews, updates on local events, and honest thoughts on life and culture in the country.

Romanian Food Blog
http://romanianfoodblog.blogspot.co.uk/

As its name suggests, this is something of a specialist blog, focusing specifically on Romanian food. It is an interesting way to see the country through an expat’s eyes, however, and the ‘seasonal’ section gives an overview of which foods are available at different times of the year. There is also a featured documentary on Transylvanian food, which will prove interesting to expat foodies who are considering a move here.

Bucharest Life
http://www.bucharestlife.net/

As the title suggests, this is a blog about life in Romania’s capital city. Part guide book, part commentary on political issues and the tourist industry, Bucharest Life is an interesting read. The ‘Badly Parked Cars’ section is an amusing documentation of the worst stationary traffic offenders. A well-rounded site, perfect for people who are living in Bucharest and enjoy thoughtful commentary on the world around them.

Romania Experience
http://www.romaniaexperience.com/

This site is usefully broken down into sections: Living, Tips, Travel and Foods. This means that whatever your interests, you can easily find what you’re looking for. With updates on local news, features of people already living in the country (both expats and locals), and tips on how to get by in your expat life, this is a useful repository of information for people thinking of moving to, or currently living in, Romania.

Those are our recommended expat blogs for today. Do you write about being an expat? Let us know in the comments!
