At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Colombia and some of the social media accounts you should be following if you’re thinking of moving there.

Expat Colombia
Facebook Page

The self-assigned mission of the Expat Colombia group is to help foreign residents adapt to living in Colombia and to break out of the "expat bubble". They try to help newcomers to network, find apartments, jobs, roommates, learn Spanish and meet new friends and share advice. A one stop place for new and established expats alike.

Expat People Traveling to Bogota Colombia
Facebook Group

Curated with the passion so characteristic of South American countries, this Facebook group is an essential source for expats who haven't yet established an extensive network in their new home. With everything from car sales adverts to coffee infused meet-ups, and ranging to Spanish lesson recommendations, why not take a peep?

Honestly Cali
Twitter

If it is a clear and unbiased window onto Colombia that is needed - perhaps to help make the big decision to relocate - then spending time reading through the Twitter timeline and blog of Marie should be a requirement. With a refreshingly honest and very thoughtful approach to life in the northern tip of South America, life in the rainforest is definitely full of surprising challenges.

Colombia Digital Nomads & Expats
Facebook Group

Though still in developmental infancy in terms of member numbers, this Facebook Group has such great potential to become an essential place for digital nomads and expats living in and around Colombia (well, in as much as digital nomads ever really settle.) Created as a platform for people hoping to collaborate and create new connections, this is a space to watch - and ideally join!

Sarepa
Facebook Page | Twitter

An Australian writer and regular suitcase-packer, Sarah Duncan has made her home deep in the exotic beauty of Colombia all the while pursuing her writing passions. She is a freelance writer, has most recently grown a community around her love of travel and blogging, has been a content writer and social media manager for one of the largest travel blogs in South America, has written an online travel guide for an award-winning publication, and currently writes for an online publication named one of the top 100 women’s publications by Forbes.

GringoPaisa (Americans In Medellin)
Facebook Group

In amongst the 2.5 million residents of Medellin, a group of expatriates hailing from USA/Canada have formed an online support group. Not just sharing where the best place to find goodies that they miss from home, this is a friendly space for finding almost anything that an expat needs: friends, events, products, services, real estate, apartment rentals, restaurants, travel, tourism, classes, jobs, legal advice and tons more information about the "City of Eternal Spring".

Expat Events Bogota
Facebook Page

Literally providing what it says on the tin (or should that be inscribed on the crystal glass?) the Expat Events Bogota Facebook Group is an essential guide to partying in the Colombian capital city of Bogota. Promising the best looking international members, the hottest places to have fun and the ability to practice nascent language skills fueled with mischievous beverages, what isn't to love?

Expat Chronicles
Facebook Page

Sharing pictures, music, news, stories, and rants from a gringo in Latin America, the Expat Chronicles are the escapades of an experienced expat who has sadly since moved to Lima, Peru but his timeline certainly shares more than a soupcon of his experiences of Colombia (and the occasional comparative articles contrasting the two countries.) His blog is a veritable archive goldmine of information for expats settling into life in Colombia.

Buy & Sell Expats en Bogota
Facebook Groups

Perfect for practicing real, everyday Spanish skills, this practical Facebook group was created as a space to offer items for sale, asking for hard-to-find necessities to purchase, for exchanging data and ideas and above all to help expats in their lives developing away established homes. All they ask is that members are responsible, educated and collaborative in what they publish.

Medellin Expats
Facebook Group

With more than 2,500 members, this is a group sharing experiences and ideas about the Medellin Region, Antioquia and Colombia, mostly focused on travel and domestic purposes. All of the group members are foreigners who have set up home in the second largest city in Colombia and share a common love of their new country.

We’re always on the lookout for more accounts to feature - if you write about living in Colombia on social media, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
