But there are some essential items you might want to take along with you, so that they are immediately available for use when you arrive. Important documents: This is probably the most essential item on the list of things to pack when moving abroad. Without these, you may not be able to enter Barbados. It includes things like your visa, current passport, flight tickets and driver’s license or other identification. Remember to double check that you have all of this ready before moving day. If you are moving with small children, remember to pack a few storybooks and some of their favorite toys.
Phrase books, guidebooks and maps: These will be useful during your first few days in Barbados. You may also opt to have all of these on your phone or tablet device. Include details of grocery stores, shopping centers and restaurants in proximity of your near home. If English is your native language, you won’t require a phrase book, since it is also the official language of Barbados.
Shopping list: Before your move, make a list of all the things you plan to buy when you arrive in Barbados. From beachwear to furniture, include everything so you can begin shopping as soon as you arrive.
Landlord’s contact details: Make sure you have these before you get on the plane, so you can get in touch once you arrive. If you’re staying at a friend’s or in other temporary accommodation, make sure you have those telephone numbers and details as well.
