At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Belgium and some of the blogs that might be useful for expats there.

Travel Pray Love

Jaimee is (in no particular order) an expat, cat lover, mother, proud Canadian and avid traveler. Travel Pray Love began as a simple travel blog, but has turned into so much more as her life has changed over the last 4 years of living abroad. Her posts are full of her experiences, thoughts and a few incredible travel stories, all organised in a easy to navigate manner.

The Naked Kayaker

A blog for expat nature lovers (clothed, for clarification - check out Nena's 'About Me' page for the blog title story) these posts are about exploring the outdoors (mostly by kayak), traveling, trip planning, and coastal engineering. It currently focuses on kayaking in Belgium and the Netherlands, alongside the author's other waterway explorations.

Coffee Chat with Perpie

Pinay and proud of it, Perpie has embraced married life in Belgium, served with a side of extensive travelling. Exploring the world with a coffee cup in hand, she shares her thoughts, foodie recommendations and adventures on her lovely blog. Written both informatively and creatively, this is one to watch.

Butterscotch and Chocolate

Bec and Merv are an Australian couple from Sydney, currently enjoying the expat life in Brussels. In 10+ years as a couple, they have seen a lot of the world together – travelling to more than 80 cities in over 25 countries. Deciding to settle in Belgium (both for ease of access to Paris and photography opportunities) this is their journal of discoveries.

On Food and Wine

Sharing their favourite Brussels foodie hotspots and travel tips through their blog, these two expats (plus a mini one) are living and working in Brussels. For recommendations, storytelling and mouthwatering photography, this is where expats need to be.

Ana Elisa Miranda

Sharing her story which bridges Brazil, the US and Belgium, Ana is a teacher who grew up in a small town in Southeast Brazil and, like many small town girls, wanted to leave. She knew there was more, and now her life is very different. Her blog is an honest window onto life as an expat in Europe.

Written bilingually in French and English, these are the culinary adventures of an Indian expat living in Belgium. Sharing their adventures via the medium of knife and fork, the stories associated with flavours, dishes and loving preparation are a fascinating insight into Belgian life. Warning: may make readers hungry.

Live In Belgium

This is a professionally toned blog for those who want to live in Belgium. Written for expats, by experienced expats, their tips and reviews are an essential tool in the toolkit of new and time won expatriates alike. With a special section on legal cohabitation, this is an interesting read.

The Global Office

Fitzalan is an American PR who has based her home in Gent, Belgium for more than four years. Her office however is an international combination of laptop, wifi and ever changing hotel desktops. Cycling is in her blood and expat life is second nature to this traveller - her blog is a wonderful repository of knowledge.

We’re always on the lookout for more sites to feature - if you run a blog about living abroad, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
