At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Sweden and some of the blogs that might be useful for expats there.

Brightly Bailie

From blogger dates over beer in London to day to day musings, Brightly Bailie is a fascinating mixture of the loves of an expat living in Ängelholm, Sweden. Told in the tone of a friend over coffee, Bailie's posts are a charming combination of practical thinking, foodie tidbits and literary addictions.

Willow Day

Fully embracing the beautiful Scandinavian design ethos, Willow Day is a collection of crafty DIY tutorials perfect for making an expat home more, well, homely. Gina and her eclectic Swedish-American-French family (plus their four-pawed member Henry) share their story and everyday adventures.

The Swede Life

With a wonderful post sharing the challenges of repatriation, likening returning from expat life as a series of mis-matching shapes, The Swede Life is an excellent read for anyone looking to change their lives. This is a must read - full of personal stories and a whole lot of heart.

Expat Jon Takes On The World (Well... Sweden)

Full of fascinating, funny and a few silly stories, Expat Jon Takes On The World (Well... Sweden) is a personal blog that makes for riveting reading. Sharing his life in the Scandinavian nation of thousands of coastal islands and a few much-cherished burger restaurants, the posts are a delight to revel in.

Stockholm Stories

Featuring a recent, very apt personality profile on the difference between Swedes in summer and winter, Stockholm Stories is the personal penning of a Californian called Corrinne as she adventures her way around 5 years in Sweden. From student days to professional disappointments, this is a non-stop, thoroughly fascinating window into expat life.

Everything Sweden

A compendium on everything Swedish, this is a must-read for anyone thinking of moving to the nation of Swedes (the people, not the garden vegetable). For guides to living in the country, dating, how to get ID cards, laundry, and the most important emergency numbers - almost any possible topic that is helpful to expats.

Lady Fi

Full of beautifully photographed moments, Lady Fi blogs memories and musings of a Brit who moved to the exotic isle of Sweden. She went for love, and stays for their life long established - two kids, earplugs, lost keys and sense of humour all necessities! Sharing her adventures with a poetic lilt, this is a must browse.

Written in both English and Swedish, posts on Globatris are short and sweet, full of practical tips and language advice. As Charlotta so aptly puts it - "Home is simply where your heart is. Make sure your heart is home." Perfect expat advice to bear in mind.

Jamie Writes

Laughing at the challenges of moving abroad to a new home, Jamie and her husband relocated from Massachusetts, United States to Stockholm, Sweden with their two cats. Years later travelling around the ice rinks of Europe has become de rigueur and all the adventures that result are documented on this site. With blog sections such as 'Moving Abroad 101' and 'Tourist Tips' for both of her homes and more, Jamie Writes is a relocation must read.

Be Love Live

Moving continents and taking her cat with her, Liz left her heart in Asheville, North Carolina and found love in Sweden. Her blog Be Love Live is a celebration of all that is good in life, with a sprinkling of expat honesty between gorgeous photography.

We’re always on the lookout for more sites to feature - if you run a blog about living in Sweden, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
