At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Hungary and some of the social media accounts you should be following if you’re thinking of moving there.

Expats in Hungary
Facebook Group

There is a lot of information contained within this group, unsurprising since it has over ten thousand members. Finding new expat friends is made easier by the sheer amount of events that get shared in this group and they are not merely limited to Budapest. Everyone is encouraged to share their experiences and knowledge so that future expats can benefit.

Hungary Expats
Facebook Group

With over fifteen thousand members in this group your questions will not go unanswered. The experience available here will prove useful to anyone considering making Hungary their new expat home, recommendations for language schools, hairdressers and much more are plentiful. Events are shared frequently and cater for everyone from families to students, and provide excellent path to connect with other expats.

Simply Expats Hungary
Facebook Group

With just over one thousand members this is one of the smaller expat groups, but it still holds a great range of information and advice relevant to various expat lifestyles. Interesting articles and experiences about life in Hungary are side by side with event invitations, property rentals and job opportunities; everything an expat needs to settle into a new environment.

Expat Moms in Budapest
Facebook Page

Parenting as an expat can be hard and having a community who understands the everyday challenges is invaluable. This group is a place for families to share experiences and ask questions free from judgement. Join other international families at their regular coffee dates and join the partner sale and swap group to grab yourself some bargains.

American Valerie currently splits her time between Budapest and the UK for work. Planning a wedding whilst travelling on a weekly basis she experiences frequent culture shocks and is quick to compare her life in the USA to the one she has currently in Europe. Having lives in different times zones is something she deals with better on some days than others, but Valerie always gives an honest glimpse of what expat life can be.

Mehdi Benaniba

French born Mehdi lives and breathes social media, so it can come as no surprise that he is very active on Twitter. His feed is directed at global nomads like himself who are able to take their tech job with them anywhere in the world, making interesting reading for potential expats. He is also a rugby fanatic, with a fair share of sport related tweets during the season.

We’re always on the lookout for more accounts to feature - if you write about living in Hungary on social media, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
