At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Turkey and some of the social media accounts you should be following if you’re thinking of moving there.

Expats of Turkey
Facebook Group

Whether you are full-time, part-time or merely considering Turkey as an expat home, this group will welcome you with open arms. Questions are encouraged and with over six thousand active members you are sure to find the answers you are looking for. Recommendations as well as experiences are shared here, the good and the bad get equal airtime and both are dealt with in good humour.

Istanbul Expat Center
Facebook Group

An open group with almost nine thousand members founded to give English speakers seeking a life in Istanbul a means to ask for, and find, information. More than just what is going on in the city, though of course there are plenty of expat centric events posted, you will get a real community feel here with people sharing job opportunities, advice and Turkey through their own eyes.

Cook’s Corner for Expats in Turkey
Facebook Group

Finding food from home in order to recreate memorable tastes can be a struggle for expats, this group can tell you where to find what you need, or what to bring with you. The recipes shared are from all over the world just like the members of the group, and all have been made with ingredients that are available locally. Do not enter this group hungry, you have been warned.

Majabarel
Twitter | Instagram

Half Italian, half Croatian Maja currently calls Istanbul home. A fan of the inspirational quote and a lover of digital technology she frequently tweets about the latest innovations, unsurprising really considering she works in the industry. Her travels for work, to see family and simply to explore make her Instagram feed one that might just have you packing a suitcase and setting sail on the open seas.

Beau Higgins
Twitter

American Beau earns his money through words, writing, translating and advertising. His feed is an eclectic mix of technology; thought provoking articles and questions that really make you stop and think. As a father of one and a keen amateur chef he enjoys sharing developments that will improve life in the home and the kitchen, at home and abroad.

Katharina Boden

Katharina is a German in Istanbul on a mission to make vegan food feel magical and cosy, another not to visit hungry! As a digital nomad she takes her job with her wherever she is in the world, she arrived in Turkey via a few other countries including Argentina, Seoul and Cairo. This woman knows food; her travel guides always come with recommendations of where to eat and her recipes are born out of the tastes she has discovered on her travels.

We’re always on the lookout for more accounts to feature - if you write about living abroad on social media, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
