USA - Recommended Social Media Accounts

Published Wednesday August 16, 2017 (13:29:47)

At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at the USA and some of the social media accounts you should be following if you’re thinking of moving there.

Cher is a Canadian expat living in the windy city. She describes herself as having a curious mind and a love for Chicago, wanting to share all of her musings and findings of the city via her social media channels and blog.

Me Myself And Atlanta

Rachel is a British expatriate living in Atlanta with her German husband. They decided to make the move back in 2013 when her husband was offered a job transfer. Rachel left her career as a journalist and radio presenter for pastures new “across the pond”.

Irish USA Mom

Mairéad first set foot in America over twenty years ago to work as a physical therapist. She only planned to stay for one year but fell in love with all America had to offer and is now a proud American citizen. She says she has embraced her “adopted land” but still has “strong ties” to her home country of Ireland. You can explore her love for both countries via her Pinterest account.

Lost In The Pond
Facebook Page

Lost In The Pond is a blog by British expat Laurence Brown. He says he devised the blog to “document all of the cultural differences between the United States and my homeland of the United Kingdom.” He is also working on a Youtube project to produce a travel series with videos produced in all fifty states.

Originally from Siberia, Ekaterina has been calling Miami home for the past 10 years which she describes as a “bold, colourful, international paradise” that she is utterly in love with. She resides there with her fiancé and looks forward to buying a home and starting a family in the place that she loves.

England And Iowa

Kylie is a British girl with an American husband, blogging about the USA visa process, expat life and active travel in the American Midwest and more. Her new home is in Iowa but she loves to explore the other states of America and write travel guides as she goes.

An Aussie In SF

Katherine is an Aussie expat originally from Sydney, now living in San Francisco. In some ways, she considers herself a career expat, often deciding to move overseas (and interstate) because of job prospects. Katherine says that she likes the challenge of living somewhere new which is a little bit like solving a rubix cube - “ It’s tricky, you’ll make a few mistakes along the way, but eventually you’ll get there.”

We’re always on the lookout for more accounts to feature - if you write about living abroad on social media, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
