Panama – Recommended Blogs

At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at Panama and some of the blogs that might be useful for expats there.Panama For Beginners

Panama For Beginners is a brilliantly written resource for beginners and lifetime expats alike. Sharing his hard won knowledge, Mike followed his heart to Panama and through the beautifully labelled stages of posts – vacationing, before moving and during habitation – imparts great knowledge making this blog a must read for anyone dreaming of tropical life. He also shares travel, restaurant reviews and news that expats may find useful.

Harts in Panama

Early in their marraiage, Mike Hart and his wife talked of owning a place in the mountains with a spring for water and enough land to farm. Little did they dream that life would taken them to Panama and a good-size plot of land that would have bananas, oranges, lemons, mangoes, coconuts and a grove of bamboo trees, let alone volunteering opportunities to keep their souls busy.

The Panama Adventure

Kris wanted to use her move to Panama as a new chapter. Redefining who she was, creating her dream life and simply enjoying everyday, The Panama Adventure is a collection of stories originally intended for friends and family that has slightly taken on a life of its own. Told in an engaging tone, like that of a good friend, this blog is full of information answering all kinds of expat questions.

Panama Dude

Full of on-point tips for anyone looking to make the move to laidback Panama, how to party properly at Carnaval (incidentally a great place to meet local friends whilst getting soaked by a water gun) and a few of the more interesting things to expect as an expat, Panama Dude is a humourously told series of stories and swift lists. Best tip to get used to the local water? Drink half a containter of bottled water, then top the other half with local water. Life is about slowly adjusting…

Future Expats

With two and a half years under their belts, Panama was home away from home for these wanderlusting globetrotters. Loving the friendly“buenas” culture of saying hello to strangers, reveling in sunshine and mangoes plus the varied and dramatic landscapes, these future expats were simply smitten.

Along The Gringo Trail

Retiring in early 2011 to the shores of Panama, Clyde and Terry are now travelling the world one house sitting gig at a time. Leaving their pricey homelands for a cheaper, more peaceful, better way of life, they have met many international retirees along the Panama gringo trail who have taken on expat life with verve.

In Da Campo

Leaving behind the all-encompassing, bitter winters of Canada for retirement on the beaches of Panama’s Azuero Peninsula, this Canadian couple share their extensive experience of moving lives abroad. With fantastically detailed guides to their decisions, buying a home and settling into the rhythm of a new life, In Da Campo is a must read.

Chiriquí Chatter

A collection of thoughts, fascinations, personal recommendations and helpful advice, Chiriqui Chatter is the personal blog of Don sharing his experiences while living as a pensionado/retiree in the beautiful country of Panama. Living on the tropical shores since 2003, his experience is an interesting insight into daily life.

Our Third Life Pedasi

Falling in love with with the rural town of Pedasí for its friendliness, small town atmosphere, not to mention the beautiful beaches nearby, Connie and Mikkel have settled into the slower pace of island life. Leaving behind their Californian lives for the “tranquilo” life in a tropical paradise, Our Third Life Pedasi is a lovely journal of expat experiences.

Panama For Real

Priding themselves for not sugarcoating this living-overseas-in-Panama thing, Panama For Real is a brilliant video and written guide to the various cities, daily life tricks and secrets even locals haven’t discovered. Calling himself just an average joe, the passion Chris shares for his adopted home marks him out as anything but.

We’re always on the lookout for more sites to feature – if you run a blog about living in Panama, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
