Joburg Expat

The blog ‘Joburg Expat’ was brought to life when author Sine (which doesn’t rhyme with ‘mine’) moved from Kansas to Johannesburg in 2010 together with her husband and four children, just in time to witness one of Africa’s most glorious events, the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Ever since then she has been sharing her escapades and hard-won wisdom both from the time she lived there, and the realisations she had when they made the decision to leave. Luckily, her store of expat tales hasn’t come close to drying up.

Authored by the New Zealand High Commission in Pretoria, this friendly Facebook page simply hopes to provide information on social and other important events, as well as acting as a platform for homesick Kiwis to feel a little closer to Aoteoroa. With stories from both countries, the odd rugby update and occasionally shout outs for help from the community this is an interesting page to follow.
